Re-launching Norwegian furniture classics

PURE NORWEGIANS: Eikund find and re-launch hidden treacures among Norwegian furniture designers (Photo: Eikund)

The new Norwegian furniture company Eikund is re-launching Norwegian furniture classics that will most definitely impress.

With the presentation of Veng, designed by Torbjørn Bekken in 1960, Eikund is entering a chapter in the Norwegian design history that has been hidden for too long.

Some may have heard of designers like Arne Korsmo and Grete Prytz Kittelsen, but the scope of creativity blooming in this country around the mid-twentieth century is for many an unknown territory. Pulled out into the spotlight again, there is no doubt that these objects fit perfectly into contemporary interiors of today, both in public and private sector. Other Norwegian designers are Torbjørn Afdal, Fredrik Keyser, Bent Winge and Sigurd Resell.

The company has received several design awards and has built distribution networks for the USA, UK, Sweden and Japan. The small factory at Hellvik in Rogaland has delivered large orders to «At six» hotel chain in Stockholm, Quality Aiport hotel Gardermoen and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Empowered by Validé

«Validé Dalane has been an important supporter in the establishment of the company, especially in connection with obtaining capital».
